Low, spreading semi-woody subshrub grows to 3 feet tall.
Small linear leaves less than 1/4 inch long, 1/4 inch wide. Grows in tight clusters.
Blooms May to October as small popcorn sized clusters of white to pink flowers. The dried flower heads turn reddish brown in the summer.
Common Southern California shrub from coast to desert on hillsides, washes, and roadways in many plant communities.
Flammability - Moderate to high.
Small fine fuels are considered to be highly flammable under stress from low fuel moisture.
Regenerates by seed; does not sprout after fire. Can be mowed or weed-whipped to the ground every 2 or 3 years. Recommended removal within the first 30 to 50 feet of any structure. Thinned and spaced for 100 to 200 feet.
